Know about & Make the Most of What the CoLab Offers

July 9 | 5–6:30pm CEST | Online

This 90-minute session hosted by CoLab Project Manager Aimee Fenech will walk through:

  • What’s available to everyone for free
  • What’s included in CoLab membership
  • What additional services or resources are available for payment
  • How to access and share these offers
Whether you’re an active contributor or just figuring out how things work here, this is a chance to see the full picture and ask any questions.

The session will be recorded but we are happy with a good sized audience to ask questions and clarifications that will help others watching the recording later.

How to be a Community Member of a Thriving, Resilient, Online Space

Online communities come with both limitations and opportunities—they can be what you make of them. Becoming an engaged member starts with understanding the community’s mission, vision, and ways of working. It’s about learning through experience how to navigate the space, use collaboration tools effectively, and engage in meaningful connections.

In this exploratory workshop, we’ll dive into what it means in practical terms to be part of a thriving, resilient online community. Through engaging in the CoLab, you’ll gain insights into how online spaces function, develop skills for remote collaboration, and discover how to contribute while receiving support. These learnings won’t just apply to CoLab—they’ll help you engage more effectively in other aligned networks and communities. The more you strengthen this muscle, the easier it becomes to adapt and thrive in online spaces.

Join us to explore how CoLab can empower you in your critical thinking, decision-making, and collective action!

15th July, 4 - 5:30pm CEST, Online

Peripheral LINKs Creating Connections – Open Calls for change makers

Are you working on making the world a better place – on the edge? Let’s connect!

Life on the edge can be inspiring. It can also be lonely. If you are part of a small organization, grassroots project, local group or currently on your own, working on topics like sustainability, community or education in a peripheral, rural, or otherwise remote region of Europe, then this open call is for you! We’re building a decentralized network of people and projects at the margins. We know the challenges: distance, lack of peers, limited resources. We know the strength that comes from finding others walking similar paths. That's why we want to connect with you, and help you connect with each other. Creating Connections is part of a wider EU-supported collaboration called Peripheral LINKs between small organizations, maybe similar to yours. We are reaching out to start conversations and relationships that can lead to mutual support, shared knowledge, future partnerships and real connection.

If this open call isn't for you, we kindly ask you to please forward this to someone who might be interested in it!

Re. Rural Gathering 2025

We are hosting in Sao Luis (South West Portugal) a week long immersive experience for Organizational leaders & Regenerators to regenerate themselves, while connecting with peers, co-learning and envisioning thriving futures for rural areas.

In a time of deep ecological and social transformation, rural areas hold unique potential to lead the transition towards regenerative and cooperative futures.

The Re.RuRal Gathering brings together 45 organizational leaders, rooted in rural territories across Iberia & Europe to strengthen a shared community of practice.

We will co-learn from our lived experiences and applied knowledge in our BioRegions,
and co-design collaborative strategies to shape the future of our rural landscapes.

By cultivating relationships of trust, creativity and solidarity, we aim to co-create the Re.RuRal Movement - a living network of organizations grounded in the regeneration, rejuvenation, reactivation, and reconnection of rural territories.

It will be hosted with care and competence by the Co.Re team (www.co-re.info)

From September 20th to 28th.

Diversity and Decolonization

The International Permaculture CoLab recognises that permaculture history, ethics, principles and practices have deep roots in many indigenous cultures.

This section of our newsletter is dedicated to addressing gaps in knowledge, highlighting resources and important work. We seek to promote, share and support diversity and decolonization projects, organisations and shared knowledge around the world that are aligned with our vision of a socially just world where we live in harmony with nature.

How to Understand Power

Every day, we move and operate within systems of power that other people have constructed. But we’re often uncomfortable talking about power. Why? Eric Liu describes the six sources of power and explains how understanding them is key to being an effective citizen. Lesson by Eric Liu, animation by KAPWA Studioworks.

It then presents research into European legislation and frameworks, including Spain, Germany, and Ireland. Case studies of low footprint nature-based solutions are presented, before the document finishes with some recommendations.

This document was produced by Aline Van Moerbeke, Kinga Milankovics, Maria Herold, and Marc Muñoz I Paniello as part of the Domestic Waste Water Systems – Legislation? Team. It was funded through the Emergent Festival as part of the Next Steps Project.
