Grow the largest Funding Opportunities database for Permaculture in the World! - Join the Hackathon

On Friday, September 26th, from 10:00–18:00 CET, we’re hosting a Funding Opportunities Hackathon — and you’re invited.
This is a public, drop-in event where you can:
  • Help identify new funding opportunities not yet listed
  • Check and update existing entries in the database
  • Submit new opportunities directly
  • Learn how to assess funding opportunities from a permaculture perspective
No experience needed — training will be provided and support will be on hand all day.
Why does this matter?

The funding landscape is vast, and permaculture projects everywhere need reliable, ethical sources of support. The database we are building is already the largest collection of funding opportunities for permaculture and aligned projects worldwide — and with your help, we can make it even stronger.

Have no idea what we are talking about? Check out the database now here: https://perma.earth/funding-opportunities/

Permaculture Design Guild – For Diploma Students

On October 4th the CoLab is starting a Permaculture Design Guild which is designed for Diploma students to help finish their designs.

We will be meeting Saturdays from 11:00 – 12:30 CEST for 8 weeks.

You will need to join the CoLab as a member to join this event. Membership is free!

This is an opportunity to present your design or design idea to fellow students for feedback.

The session is free of charge but you can make a conscious donation to the Funding Circle Community Fund which helps the funding circle team provide free grant matching and grant writing services to grassroot projects looking for funding.

If you know of Diploma Students who would benefit from being in this guild please feel free to invite them to join the CoLab and join us here in the Guild.

If you are a Diploma Tutor please do make your students aware of this guild perhaps they would benefit from joining us.

Nice Jobs Café

The Nice Jobs channel on the CoLab Slack space is now hosting a monthly café call — a casual, no-pressure space for job seekers, freelancers, and changemakers looking for meaningful work. It’s a chance to share your skills, meet others in the CoLab, and offer or receive peer support and encouragement.

In the channel you will find work opportunities which include full-time, part-time, contracting, in-place and remote job opportunities all with ethically aligned organisations. We also share tips and resources on how to optimize your portfolio and your search and we hold all of this as a commons which you too are encouraged to contribute to.The channel and calls are offered for free to CoLab members. Membership is free, and you can find out more about the CoLab by hitting the button below.

Participatory Design Session: Modular Permaculture Education

The ICAAFS team is hosting a free, open session to explore opportunities for multi-stakeholder design of a modular Permaculture Education System. Together, we’ll look at how permaculture and regenerative learning can become more equitable, open, interoperable, and enlivened- through the technology of open badges and the cooperation of leaders in the field.

Inspired by the 8 Shields design approach, this will be a participatory session. You’ll also have the chance to deepen your ability to collaborate with the iCAAFS team. If you are a permaculture educator, course developer, student or just interested in a more accessible and professional education future - join us! Open to members and non-members!

Diversity and Decolonization

The International Permaculture CoLab recognises that permaculture history, ethics, principles and practices have deep roots in many indigenous cultures.

This section of our newsletter is dedicated to addressing gaps in knowledge, highlighting resources and important work. We seek to promote, share and support diversity and decolonization projects, organisations and shared knowledge around the world that are aligned with our vision of a socially just world where we live in harmony with nature.

Embracing Neurodiversity in Remote Work

Learning about neurodivergence can help to make us better collaborators. Instead of being frustrated with our own or other peoples glitches in communication, we can learnt to be curious and tolerant.

In this episode of the Head of Remote podcast, they take a closer look at how remote and hybrid workplaces can better support neurodivergent professionals and why doing so creates stronger, more inclusive systems for everyone.

The guests are:
Neurodivergence refers to the 1 in 5 people whose brains work differently from what is considered typical. This can include autism, ADHD, dyslexia, giftedness, or simply a unique way of learning and processing the world. These differences are not deficits. In the right environment, they are superpowers.

Resource of the Month

Finca Verde Regenerative Permaculture Agri-Food Project: A Case Study

Finca Verde is a small farm in the south of Spain. This is an in-depth case study that aims to research, document, and develop practical solutions to major challenges of our time. This includes water shortages, loss of biodiversity, food production, and strengthening local economies.

This is a case study that will be produced over three years, offering reports of solutions, trials, and results. The documents were produced by Anton Oussik and Aimee Fenech as part of the Practical Solutions Research and Development project. It was funded by the International Permaculture CoLab through the Next Steps Project.
Interested in adding your resources to the commons? Send us your creations to contact@perma.earth and we will review them and add them onto the Downloadable Resources Section on perma.earth.
