Introducing the Community Owned Startup Incubation (COSI) Programme

Part of the International Permaculture CoLab long term financial sustainability strategy these last 6 years has been to invest in the development of micro-enterprises which are made up of CoLab members that come together as groups of freelancers that offer professional services to the CoLab and external clients aligned with permaculture ethics and values.

The Community Owned Start up Incubation (COSI) programme brings together a programme developed on the learnings of the last 6 years into a prototype so that in the future we will be used to help permaculture aligned micro-enterprises develop and grow their startups from idea to paying clients, using a flat governance structure, making decisions by consent and using fair pricing and ethical marketing practices.

As with all CoLab projects the resources produced are free to access and we are happy to share the COSI evaluation form which you can use for your micro-enterprise development.

Current participants of this programme are:
The Digital Circle
Permaculture Convergence
Funding Circle Services

We are hoping to welcome the Comms Consultancy team and Minimum Viable Academy in the near future.

If this sounds interesting to your network or organisation please get in touch with us.

For Permaculture Associations, Organisations and Networks

AI Botnets are here and they are a serious threat to your digital infrastructure.

For organisations that don’t have their own expert tech team, new and constant security threats driven by the rapid AI development could mean a catastrophic loss of infrastructure.

The Digital Circle has been busy shoring up all of our clients infrastructure to combat the latest cybersecurity threats. If you feel unsure about the safety of your infrastructure we encourage you to contact us for a cyber security health check. We can work with your existing team making recommendations on what you can improve or do the work for you to bring you up to speed and better prepared in case of an attack

Are you looking for Ethical Paid Work?

The Nice Jobs project as part of the emerging Ethical Livelihood Design Circle is a volunteer led effort to share ethical jobs opportunities for members of the CoLab, since November 2025 until the end of May 2026 we’ve shared around 55 paid positions per month - ranging across continents, remote and in-place, full-time, part-time and consultancy opportunities. As well as job opportunities we also hold occasional online meet ups called Nice Jobs Cafes as informal support spaces to meet with others who are looking for Ethical Paid Work. Some volunteer members also offer other support such as one-to-one calls, linkedin profile reviews, CV reviews etc.

All of this is possible through the work of dedicated volunteers. If you find this interesting and would like to participate as a volunteer / job seeker or both we invite you to join the CoLab as a member to access the Nice-Jobs sub-category.

A Theoretical and Practical Workshop

In this workshop, we offer a comprehensive introduction to Permaculture through its different dimensions: community, land stewardship, infrastructure and energy, environment and society; linking these with the individual and collective process of expanding human consciousness.

€730, including accommodation and workshop.

Resource of the Month

Cross-Network Effective Collaboration

An exploration into collaboration methods inspired by bio-mimicry. In this document, you can find a link to watch the recording of the MVA live session where participants engaged in a series of activities to explore effective collaboration across networks. You can also download the session design.

The document includes a case study, applying the principles discussed in the session to the Emergent Festival (an event that was created within the CoLab to fund micro-projects and enterprises). Finally, you can access a list of additional resources on the topic.

This document was produced by the Minimum Viable Academy. This work was funded by the Next Steps Project as part of the International Permaculture CoLab.
