International Permaculture Convergence 2026 is happening in Thailand and Online!

We have had multiple emails from people who will not be able to travel to Thailand to attend the IPC16 in person. In order to make the event a truly international and accessible event the Permaculture Convergence Team is inviting you to join the IPC 16 Online event.

The IPC 16 Online Conference is happening from the 6th to 8th of November. We will bring together speakers from key permaculture domains to share knowledge and best practices with the international Permaculture community and our allied networks.

The focus of this series of events lies in sustaining and creating movement coherence and cohesion.

We have co-created a thoughtful programme to inspire permaculture practitioners, communities and organisations to see themselves as an integral part of the growing and cohesive movement that is centred around collaboration, knowledge sharing and mutual support.

There will be workshops and educational events offered on the 9th & 10th November, these will be especially interesting to people who wish to learn more about permaculture within different domains and at different levels. If you are a permaculture teacher interested in hosting a workshop or educational event during this time feel free to contact us on contact@permacultureconvergence.org

From the 11th to 15th of November, the IPC 16 Online Convergence will host strategic conversations for the permaculture movement including networks, organisations and associations, established and emerging.

Over the course of 5 days, the International Permaculture CoLab will facilitate 10 sessions, with a multitude of topics that affect the movement at scale.

The purpose of the strategic conversations is to discuss and find ways that we can push forward the movement in collaboration, meeting challenges together, and sharing useful resources.

GROW Emergent Festival

The Emergent Festival allows room for emergent activities that are in line with the CoLab Vision, Mission and Aims. It is a community-led event held over 6 months. CoLab members can pitch their ideas and receive funding through a process of community-allocated funds.

This year, 5 projects are already well into their work. In July we had the Emergent Festival midway point check-in meeting. In October, we hope that all projects will complete their work. Follow the links below to learn more about each project:

Permaculture Research Papers

a free to access repository you can use & contribute to

The Research, Education & Training Circle, one of the recently incubated circles of the International Permaculture CoLab, has created a shared repository of Permaculture academic and related research papers to make useful research easier to find, access and share across CoLab circles and beyond.

You can view the collection here: Permaculture Research Papers, and contribute papers to help grow this resource. Over time, the repository will expand to include more types of research, including ones created within the CoLab.

When adding a paper, please include the research reference number (if applicable), the paper title, and the surnames of the main researchers in the filename. If you are unsure whether something should be added, please send an email with your questions.

EuPN Permaculture Gathering 2026

4th to 6th September

The EuPN Permaculture Gathering 2026 will take place from 4–6 September 2026 in rural Brittany, France - at Afrinoon Permaculture. It will be shaped by the people who come.

This is a self-organising gathering where participants are invited to bring what they can share: a skill, a project, a workshop, a question, a story, or a conversation that matters.

Permaculture has always grown through exchange. Through people meeting, observing, listening, experimenting, and learning together.

Whether you are deeply rooted in permaculture or just starting out, you are welcome.
Bring your curiosity. Bring something to share. Come gather with us.

If we're unable to sell at least 23 tickets we will postpone the event to a later date.

Global Professional Permaculture Pathways Survey: Your Experience Matters - Last Opportunity to Contribute today!

Why complete the survey? If you’ve completed a Permaculture Design Course, you probably remember that moment of possibility: the feeling that you’d found something that could genuinely change the world, and your place in it.

You may also remember what came after. For many, the path from PDC graduate to working practitioner has been anything but clear. Too often, people with real skill and deep commitment are left to figure it out alone, with little guidance on how to incorporate permaculture into a livelihood that actually sustains them.

This survey exists because that needs to change.

We’re conducting the first major global study of professional permaculture pathways, and we need to hear from people who’ve lived it: the breakthroughs, the dead ends, what helped, and what was missing, to answer the question: how can aspiring permaculture professionals be better supported to build viable livelihoods?

Your responses will directly shape recommendations for better post-PDC support, professional development pathways, and educational design. This survey is People Care in action.
Results: Our findings will be published at https://www.permaculture.org/ and Permaculture | USU Extension | USU. If you’d like to receive the survey results, please sign up here.

Time commitment: About 10 minutes.

With appreciation, Jason Gerhardt (Permaculture Institute, Inc.), Javan K Bernakevitch (All Points Land Design), and Roslynn Brain McCann (USU Extension Permaculture).

The International Permaculture CoLab is a Partner for this project. Please Complete the Survey today! It is the last day to contribute to it.

Grassroots Land Access Research Draft Framework for Low Capital African Permaculturists

A 1-page PDF infographic outlining research into creative land-access strategies for low-capital African Permaculturists. This document gives an approach for others to replicate in other regions or with other focus areas. This would be likely applicable in other African regions and might find relevance in other Global South contexts. With adaption it may be useful to researchers in the Global North interested in alternative land-access and grassroots initiatives.

This document was produced by the African Landless Permaculturist Project: Ikhwelo Healers Collective. This work was funded by the Next Steps Project as part of the International Permaculture CoLab.
