Description
The “APIC Dimensions of Inclusivity Self Assessment” is a one-page visual assessment tool produced by the Applied Permaculture in Communities team. It presents an eight-dimension radar chart (Representation, Equity, Participation, Power, Safety, Communication, Learning, Accountability) where groups rate both their “Ideal/Values” and “Reality” on a 0–10 scale. The page includes clear step-by-step instructions for copying the template, scoring each dimension, entering data to update the chart, and using the gaps between ideal and reality to identify priority areas for action, with cross-reference to the main Action Guide and interventions catalogue.
CoLab teams and partners can use this tool at the start of projects, during reviews, or in retreats, to quickly map how inclusive their current practice feels compared to their stated values, and to create a shared picture of priorities without long surveys. It provides a simple, replicable process that can be run in a single meeting and repeated over time to track change. The wider permaculture movement can adopt and adapt the editable version for courses, local hubs, teaching centres, and networks, using it to surface blind spots, support difficult conversations about equity and power, and guide the selection of concrete interventions from the Action Guide in a transparent and participatory way.
Ce travail a été financé par la Projet Next Steps dans le cadre de la International Permaculture CoLab.
