This initiative is about much more than creating a map. It is about making visible the wider ecosystem of organisations, networks and projects working towards regenerative futures.
Sharing and connecting information across permaculture and other aligned movements, can make it easier for people to discover initiatives, build relationships, share knowledge and collaborate, strengthening the visibility of a whole ecosystem.
By design, this is a community-owned resource. It’s not the work of a single organisation, network or individual, but a collective asset. Everyone who joins will be invited to update their own information at least once a year. Entries that are not updated over time will be automatically removed, ensuring the map remains accurate and relevant.
The map was built using Murmurations‘ open data protocols. This means, data can be shared across multiple maps and platforms. This has some benefits: 1) It reduces duplication, 2) It allows every movement and network to retain its own identity, and 3) Those listed on the map can also appear on other relevant maps and platforms, increasing their visibility.
We are inviting permaculture organisations, networks, initiatives and other aligned movements to join and contribute to this shared resource. We hope to collaborate with existing mapping initiatives and welcome individual projects and grassroots.
If you are a small organisation, you can be part of the map following this link:
If you are a network with a mapping facility, you can follow the instructions:
The map is being built with accessibility in mind so it works across devices and browsers. The search box below the map allows you to look for organisations by name. You can also use filters to search by type of organisation, domain and ways to get involved. Or, you can also browse locations on the map and open any pin to see details of an organisation/project selected.
We are open to new ideas and suggestions, so if you think there is something we could improve, or would like to explore ways to collaborate, we’d be delighted to hear from you. Use the following form to share your feedback:
Thanks to everyone who has made this map possible – those who contributed in the past to the organisations already on the map and the many who will join in the future.
The current version of the map has been developed in partnership between International Permaculture CoLab and Permaculture Association Britain.
